Rolling with Bailey Rowles. Are You A Roller?

Bailey Rowles produces uplifting music, he has a passion for in-depth beats, fast tempo, and rhythmic madness. Rowles is from Carshalton and graduated from London Sound Academy about five years ago. Already, he has performed at some top clubs including Ministry, The O2 and Egg. One of the first tunes that blew up for Bailey was a collaboration with close friend Tom Dempsey, who now goes by the name Never Left, Keep Right.

A few words from Blossoming artist Bailey Rowles

What inspires you?

I believe that certain music creates certain feelings. House music is intended to make people dance, you don’t dance when you're sad. To me, house music is happy music, which makes the most sense. So if I can make somebody dance, I’ve done some positive for the world. If you're sad and you go to an event you just dance and forget about your day-to-day problems or at the end of the week, have a dance and you will feel a lot of relief.

Who inspires you?

Marcellus who’s a new artist. I also love Soso and Qubiko; songs from other artists.
I’m more interested in making songs than I am in making beats. I want to make something that can be remembered, I want to make songs that are memorable to a point rather than just making beats so that’s why singing and stuff in there is important to me.

What are you hoping to get involved with DJ wise? I love Defected and as it's a house vibe, do you reckon that’s something on the cards?

Yeah, so last year's Defected festival was one of the best events I’ve been to pretty much my life, that two day weekend was un-bloody-real.
I’m pretty privileged because one of my really good pals is the daughter of the owner of Defected, her name is also Millie, a super lovely girl, So maybe one day that could be a possibility. I like the Defected vibe over a lot more than other events. Defected is a top goal. But I like Dance On Arrival too. I like underground music, I'm quite bassy. Definitely want to be playing at Defected one day.

Is there anything coming up in the summer you would like to hype up in our magazine, ie sets, releases?

So although I don’t have much booked this summer, I am looking more towards throwing an event this summer. My pal Alex and I have an events company called sesh le sessions, which is based on the meme page, sesame street which has over 50K followers. We are looking to host a day party, preferably at night tales, we want to attract a more mature crowd. Although Egg club is definitely on the cards soon.
I have a lot of unfinished projects, I’ve been producing now for about seven years, it was when I started university that my production skills took off.

Can you tell me anything more about Loving Babe?

About loving babe, I have so many tracks, I like to see what potential engagement will be so I make videos for them and put them on Instagram reels which I know get a lot of views. Loving Babe shot off very quickly. A couple of industry heads sort of noticed it, and said to send it through when it's finished and they will send it off to Sonny Fodera for me which is great to hear because it's the sort of direction I would want to go in, make some hits, maybe some hits that can go on radio, Loving babe has that potential for that.
I have got a track with Listen to Anne, she’s supportive of me, we have a track together that needs some more instruments for extra sparkle.
Kenny and I have loads of projects that are coming and I am excited about them. He played one of our tunes, Say Yes, which we just got the masters back for last weekend. He played that at the Invisible Bin Factory which is one of the best clubs in the UK, an unreal club, so so beautiful. It’s the first time that I’ve heard my music being played to such a big crowd, so it was quite an emotional one for me. Kenny and I have a couple of really good tunes lined up, and a couple of remixes, I like working with him. We make some groovy tunes that are vibes.
With my solo projects, I like to make some songs, I like to mix and match and work with different aspects of house music, and different sub-genres of house music. I don’t like to be stuck to one field, I’m quite versatile.

Have you heard things produced by yourself anywhere you’ve been raving?

So this is a dream of mine, I just want to be out and about, randomly and hear one of my songs being played. So far I knew Kenny was going to play our track when we went to Liverpool. I was going to a rave in Camden, it was at a bar, a friend downloaded one of my first ever releases that was out on 3000 Deep with my friend Tom Dempsey, who I’ve been friends with since nursery, we are both music producers and he now goes by the name of Never Left… she dropped my track without me knowing she was even going to, it made me happy, apparently she’d been playing it for a while.

Will you be at that Epsom venue again, stance DNB said this venue is lit, as its local, I will be turning up myself if you ever are

So I have been playing for an event called Cassamara recently, I love those boys, Boogie lounge in Epsom. It’s really good because there are not that many clubs in the South West area that play tech-house and house music. There is a proper gap in the market that one day I might be looking to fill. So if we can get everyone down locally it is great for the support, the commute from London is quite expensive.

Are you a Roller?

I am a roller, you are a roller, we are all rollers just rolling through life collectively together, in perfect sync, no one knows where we’re heading but we’re all the rolling along.
We will be setting up a website and Instagram page for We Are Rollers to get some branding done so people can get accustomed to me and my music.

Bailey is broadening his following by releasing further of his unfinished solo projects over the summer and hosting more events where people can have fun and enjoy his music. He is hosting an event on the 30th of July with Seshley Sessions. You can gain tickets by subscribing to their newspaper here.
